Odds & Ends - February 6, 2009

* Harris Investment Management has named Barry McInerney president and CEO, effective Feb. 9. He replaces William Leszinske, who is retiring at the end of the month. McInerney currently serves as managing director of institutional investment strategy and services with Russell Investments. Mark Hansen , head of the firm’s institutional business for the Americas, will assume his duties at Russell.

* EFL Associates has been hired by the $200 million El Paso County Pension System to assist with the search for a new administrator to replace Dave Klemmer. Klemmer was originally expected to retire at the end of 2008, but agreed to stay in the position until a replacement could be found.

* Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners has named Carolijn ter Haar and David Boyle as portfolio managers in its global real estate fund-of-funds business. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, ter Haar was a senior fund manager at Mn Services and Boyle was a founding principal of REMCap.

* Aberdeen Asset Management has named Paul Griffiths global head of fixed-income, where he will also join the firm's group management board. Griffiths, currently managing director and head of fixed-income for asset management at Credit Suisse, is expected to take the position in June. He will replace Gary Bartlett who left the role in January. Aberdeen's CIO, Anne Richards, will assume Bartlett's duties in the interim.

* Michael Wieczorek has joined Nomura Securities International as head of U.S. funding and a managing director in the firm's fixed-income division. Before joining Nomura, Wieczorek was a managing director and head of fixed-income collateral trading at Fortis.

* RCM has appointed Sue Chan as senior portfolio manager of global equities. Prior to joining RCM, Chan was a fund manager with BlackRock.

* 3i Group has chosen Cressida Hogg to take over as head of the firms infrastructure group as a new managing partner with the firm. Hogg takes over the infrastructure role after Michael Queen left the position to replace Phillip Yea as the firm's CEO (See IMW, 2/2/09).

* State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Monica Fan as VP and senior product engineer for global currency, a new position in the firm's London office. Prior to joining SSgA, Fan was global head of currency strategy at RBC Capital Markets.

* Mike Keogh has been appointed as senior economic and investment analyst at Henderson Global Investors. Prior to joining Henderson, Keogh was an associate director at CB Richard Ellis.

* Lateef Investment Management has found its eight managing director and owner in the form of James Tarkenton. Tarkenton first joined the firm as a portfolio manager in June.

* Charles Blahous, former deputy director of the National Economic Council under president George W. Bush's administration, has been appointed as senior advisor at Palisades Capital Advisors.
