Northern Trust Refreshes Equity Trading Pool

Seven firms have been added to Northern Trust Global Investments’ (NTGI) list of emerging and minority/women-owned broker dealer list for equity trading, parent company Northern Trust announced today.
Blaylock Robert Van Securities of Oakland, Calif., Cabrera Capital Markets of Chicago, Guzman & Company of Coral Gables, Fla., Loop Capital Markets and M.R. Beal and Company both of Chicago, Ill., M. Ramsey King Securities of Burr Ridge, Ill and Samuel A Ramirez & Company based in New York City, were all approved for the pool, according to a Dec. 4 statement.
“We are pleased to maintain relationships with seven broker-dealers that have the strength and expertise to become strategic trading partners with Northern Trust,” Lyle Logan, executive VP and managing director of client servicing and sales at Chicago-based NTGI, said in the statement. “In addition to best execution in particular markets, these firms demonstrate a commitment to compliance and risk management that is important to Northern Trust and our clients.”
Last year, Northern Trust “traded in excess of $40 billion worth of equity and fixed-income securities with broker-dealers in the program, up from $30 billion in 2006,” the firm said in the release.
The recent selections are an update to its pool which was last refreshed in 2007. The RFI for candidates was issued in May, Kathleen Fitzgerald, public relations specialist for Northern Trust, said.
