Toronto Manager Hires Equity Pro
JovInvestment Management has added a 25-year and extremely decorated veteran to lead its equity team, as the Toronto-based firm’s continues to expand its “growing presence in Canada,” firm President Steven Hawkins, recently said.
Stephen Rogers, JovInvestment Management’s new VP, portfolio manager and manager of U.S. equity mandates, formerly served as Mavrix Fund Management’s North American Growth Fund manager.
A Feb. 5 press release noted that he was able to guide the Mavrix Fund to the “first quartile performance among its U.S. equity peers.”
In his new role, Rogers will be required to manage the Jovian Capital Corporation investment management company’s new Horizons AlphaPro North American Growth Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF), the statement said.
“We are thrilled to strengthen our team of investment professionals with such a skilled and experienced asset manager,” Hawkins said in the release.
Prior to his Mavrix appointment, Rogers served as a senior VP at AGF Management, where he won numerous awards for his expertise in mutual funds. Furthermore, Rogers also founded Albireo Asset Management, a specialized hedge fund strategies firm, the statement said.
As of Jan. 31, JovInvestment had $3.3 billion in assets under management. It provides investment advisory and administration services to its “broad range of clients."
